Personas explained

A persona is the lens through which FedGrade writes your daily Brief. Each persona pairs a retrieval focus (what the Brief looks for — agencies, NAICS codes, topics) with a Brief variant (how it is written). The same research library produces a different Brief for each persona. Personas shape output; they are not feature gates.

The five Brief variants

• Capture. Action-oriented: pWin shifts, gate timing, capture decisions. This is the default.
• Executive. Headlines and the so-what, with one-line implications for a portfolio.
• Strategic. Cross-pursuit themes, market structure and cross-sector inference.
• Editorial. Narrative and quotable — suitable for forwarding.
• Oversight. An accountability lens: GAO and IG findings, statutory deadlines and hearing-ready facts.

How many personas you can run

Each enabled persona gets its own daily Brief. The number you can have enabled depends on your tier: Free 1, Pro 3, Team 5, Enterprise 15, Government uncapped. Add a second persona when the same person plays two roles — for example, a capture lead who also briefs the CEO might run Capture and Executive side by side.

How the Brief uses the persona

When the Brief is synthesized, the persona controls:

1. Retrieval. The persona's query hint, and any agencies or NAICS codes you boost, bias which passages are retrieved.
2. Voice. Each variant has its own versioned system prompt that shapes voice and topic priority.

Citation rules are the same for every variant: every claim is checked against a verbatim excerpt.

Changing personas

Edit your personas at /settings/personas. Changes apply to the next daily Brief; the current day's Brief is not regenerated. (On Pro and above you can preview a different variant on demand from /today.)

Custom prompts (Team and above)

Team, Enterprise and Government workspaces can add a custom synthesis prompt to a persona at /settings/personas.
