Free tier usage limits

The Free tier lets you evaluate FedGrade on a real federal capture problem without a credit card. It is capped, and the caps below are the ones the product enforces. If a tooltip in the product disagrees with this page, the product's enforcement wins — please report the mismatch.

Caps

• 1 active case. Cases (shown as pursuits in the app, at /my-pursuits) hold the evidence you pin from Briefs and search results. You can archive a case and open a new one; you cannot hold two active at once.
• 1 watch. A watch alerts you when a new Forecast prediction matches the agencies, keywords or vendors you name. Pro raises this to 5. Watching an individual Forecast prediction is Pro and above.
• 3 saved searches. Saved searches can be re-run at any time; new-match alerts on saved searches are Team and above.
• 1 persona. The persona shapes which variant of the daily Brief you receive. Pro allows 3, Team 5.
• No AI generations. Draft with AI, proposal outlines and reviews, CPARS and diligence narratives, letters, and on-demand Brief synthesis (including previewing a different Brief variant) are Pro and above. Your daily Brief is still generated for you every day — that runs on our schedule, not against an allowance.
• Top-3 daily Brief, in the app. The Brief is generated normally, but only the top three items are shown, and it is not emailed on Free. Pro shows up to ten items and emails the Brief.
• 30-day Brief history. Free shows Briefs from the last 30 days. Older Briefs are kept, not deleted — they become visible again when you upgrade.
• PDF export only. Brief DOCX export, share links and workspace data export are Pro and above.

What is not capped

• Search, the finder, and cross-entity lookups — unmetered on every tier, including Free
• PDF export of your Briefs
• Number of citations rendered inside the visible items
• Inaccuracy reports — the Report inaccuracy button is available on every tier

Hitting a cap

When you hit a cap, the product shows an inline upgrade prompt naming the cap you hit (for example, "3 of 3 saved searches used; this would be the 4th") with a link to /pricing. No work is lost — your saved searches, cases and watches stay where they are.

If a cap was lowered after you created rows under the old one, you keep every row you already have. You simply cannot add another until you are back under the cap or on a paid tier.

Why these specific caps

The Free tier is designed around a single analyst evaluating two or three agencies. 1 case / 1 watch / 3 saved searches / unmetered search / 30-day Brief history is our judgement of the right envelope for that workload — a design choice, not a measurement. We do not publish usage statistics we have not measured.
